Not waving, but drowning

If you do not expect
Then you cannot grieve
And if you do not ask
How can you start to plea
And I may give you less
Much than what I receive,
But you do not love wholly
If you do not love the crease
of the waves that pulled us in
to this
dark and heavy sea

And even if it is I
Who keeps swimming
far too deep
Still I don’t deserve to drown
While you forever hold your peace.
