wait until the sun goes down
until the sherbet melts from
the child’s lips into the
skyline cracks-
into the summer now gone
until the autumn moon
rises into full dawn
wait until you’ve waited
for the spring to break
the ice of the river rink
and when the glass cracks
i hope new hands reach you
and that you dont let them wait
for you to hold on back, wait-
i hope the dark water
ceases singing songs,
and when the season ends
cleanses your murky hands
of all that you did wrong
