Beggar

where can i abandon this heart
a cup overflowing with salty foam
and swimming veins

i am running like a beggar through
dark streets, tripping over
words escaping through my feet.

i am begging for someone to make an offer
but i am screaming into a deaf night

the stars turn their backs
the moon closes its eyes

there are no takers, no voices tonight,
only ghosts with cotton ball tongues
breathing out whispers,
going once, going twice.
